About ISTE
The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is the leading national professional non-profit making society for the technical education system in our country, with the motto of career development of teachers, personality development of students and the overall growth of technical education. Being the only national organization of educators in the field of Engineering and Technology, ISTE contributes effectively to various missions of the Union Government. The strength of ISTE lies in its strong presence across technical education institutions in the country.
ISTE has an Executive Council at the national level and has an active membership of more than 1,28,500 technical teachers, 5,35,000 student members, more than 2,740 institutional members including IITs, IISc, NITs and other leading institutions, 1,414 faculty chapters, 1,505 student chapters and 19 state sections.
The major objective of ISTE is to provide quality training programmes to teachers and administrators of technical institutions to update their knowledge and skills in their respective fields, and to assist in the production and development of high quality professional engineers and technicians needed by industry and society.

ISTE organizes annual conventions for faculty and students separately every year, where a large number of technocrats, technical teachers, policy makers, industry experts and academicians participate and interact. Every year, a National Seminar is also organized with a specific theme related to the latest developments in Science and Technology and contemporary societal issues.
During these conventions and seminars, eminent personalities in technical education deliver special lectures and delegates present research papers. ISTE is actively involved in many activities conducted by AICTE and NBA. It has also partnered with these national bodies in initiatives such as the Chhatra Vishwakarma Award and WOSA.
ISTE also maintains collaborations and MoUs with government organizations and various universities for the promotion and strengthening of the technical education system in the country.
